About Anywhen

Most travel sites ask where you want to go. Anywhen asks when you can travel and how you like to travel, then shows you where on Earth that is true.

What it does

You type something like snow trip in March or summer in December, and the globe lights up the places where that describes the real weather. There is no hemisphere correction and no gentle redirect to somewhere more popular: summer in December is a perfectly good request, and it returns Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Sydney and Bali.

Every destination is stored as twelve months of climate, and each month carries a feel derived from its daytime high — snow, cold, mild, warm or hot. A season is a set of those feels rather than a range of dates, which is why the search works the same way on both sides of the equator.

What the data actually is

89 curated destinations. Not a scraped index of every place on the planet. Each one was added by hand, with the months, the activities and the travel levels it genuinely serves well.

30-year climate normals from ERA5 reanalysis, retrieved through the Open-Meteo Archive API and averaged across three decades. These are normals, not a forecast. They tell you what a typical March looks like in Hokkaido; they cannot tell you what next March will do.

Cost ranges, not quotes. Every figure on the site is a typical cost for that place at that travel level, assembled from published cost-of-travel references. Nothing on Anywhen is a live price, and nothing on Anywhen is a booking. Check any number with the provider before you commit money to it.

Who is behind it

Anywhen is an independent project, built and run by one person in Brazil. There is no team, no office and no investor. It launched in 2026 and it is still being written.

That has one practical consequence worth stating: when the data is wrong, there is a single person to tell, and it usually gets fixed quickly. Corrections are welcome at hello@travelanywhen.com.

How it pays for itself

Some links to accommodation and activity providers are affiliate links, and Anywhen earns a commission when a booking follows one of them. It never changes what you pay, and it never changes which destinations we show you: the ranking is computed from month, climate feel, activity tags and travel level, and commission is not one of its inputs. If the best option for a trip is somewhere Anywhen earns nothing, the site still says so.
